Frequently asked questions
What people usually ask before hiring someone on Corner Post, or before offering their own services.
Finding and offering local help
How do I find a cleaner, handyman or tutor near me?
On the Corner Post homepage, choose the service you need, for example cleaning, plumbing, tutoring or babysitting, and your canton. You'll see the people who cover your area. For lessons you can also filter by language, level or instrument. Open a listing to read the full description and reviews, then message the person directly. Browsing is free and doesn't need an account.
What does a cleaner, tutor or babysitter cost per hour?
Every provider sets their own rate and shows it on their listing, so you can compare prices in your canton before contacting anyone. Corner Post adds no fees and takes no commission: what you agree with the provider is what you pay. Agree the price in writing, in your messages, before the work starts.
Is Corner Post free?
Yes. Searching, messaging, posting a listing and getting customers are all free, and there is no commission. Corner Post doesn't handle payments; you pay the provider directly.
How can I offer my services, for example tutoring, cleaning or babysitting?
Create a free account and confirm your email address, then choose “Offer a service”. Describe what you do, set your rate and pick the cantons you cover. You can have up to three listings. When someone writes to you, you'll get an email, and you reply through Corner Post.
Can I hire an individual, or only registered businesses?
Both. Every listing says whether it's offered by an individual, such as a student or a neighbour, or by a registered business. Businesses show their Swiss UID number with a link to the official federal register, so you can check the company yourself. This comes from the person posting; Corner Post only checks that the number is correctly formed.
How do I know if a provider can be trusted?
Look at when they joined, their reviews and their description. A review can only be left once both sides have confirmed the job, and nobody can review themselves. Agree the price in writing and don't pay the full amount in advance. Corner Post doesn't vet or check providers, so use your own judgement, and report anything suspicious with the flag (⚑).
Which parts of Switzerland and which languages does Corner Post cover?
All 26 cantons. The site works in English, French, German and Italian, and each provider chooses the cantons they cover, so you only see people who work in your area.
Do I need to pay social insurance (AHV/AVS) for household help?
It can apply even to small, regular jobs in your home, such as cleaning or looking after children. Whether it does depends on how much you pay and how the work is arranged, so check with your cantonal compensation office or the official AHV/IV information site, ahv-iv.ch. Corner Post doesn't handle employment or contributions.
Why can't I find a listing I saw before?
Listings stop appearing in search when their owner hasn't used Corner Post for 60 days, and come back as soon as they sign in again. A listing may also have been deleted by its owner or removed by our moderators.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the log-in form, choose “Forgot your password?” and enter your email address. We'll send you a link to choose a new password.
Help & safety
Do I need an account to use Corner Post?
You can browse and search listings without an account. You'll need a free account to message a provider, post your own listing, or leave a rating.
How does messaging work?
Messages stay inside Corner Post — reach out to a provider from their listing, then continue the conversation from Messages in the top menu.
How do I pay for a job?
Corner Post doesn't process payments — you and the provider agree on price and payment directly, the same way you would with any neighbor.
Should I pay before the work is done?
We'd advise against it. Paying in full up front is the most common way people get caught out on sites like this one. Agree the price beforehand, but pay once the job is finished and you're happy with it. Be especially careful if someone asks for money before starting and wants a bank transfer, gift cards or cryptocurrency — none of those can be reversed once sent. Some providers ask for a small deposit toward materials on a larger job. That can be reasonable, but we don't advise it — and you should never feel pressured into it. Remember that Corner Post doesn't handle payments and cannot recover money on your behalf.
How does a job get marked as "completed"?
Both sides confirm it separately — the customer confirms they received the service, and the provider confirms the job was done. Once both agree, the rating becomes public.
What if I think a listing or message is fraudulent?
Use the flag (⚑) icon on any listing or conversation to report it. Reports are reviewed by our team.
Is my data private?
Corner Post sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ads. Your email address is never shown on your listing, and your messages are only visible to you and the other person in the conversation. The Privacy Policy explains the rest.
Can I edit or remove my listing?
Yes. Open your own listing and choose "Edit this listing" — you can change any of the details, or delete it permanently from the same screen.
